The Land Rover is planning to introduce a coupe SUV that will intensify competition in this segment of vehicles. Expected to go with the name, Range Rover Sport Coupe, the new car will take a position between the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport. Most car enthusiasts believe that the new mid-size SUV is designed to rival the BMW X6.
Range Rover Sport Coupe – Improved Interior and Exterior:
According to the British automobile manufacturer, the Sport Coupe will be based on the new Jaguar F-Pace architecture. This design platform involves the use of aluminum in the chassis, so we expect the new car to be lightweight. It will be lighter than the Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X6. Concerning size, the mid-size SUV will be closer in size to the Mercedes-Benz GLC and BMW X4.
In the front end, Range Rover Sport Coupe will have a blacked-out lower fascia flanked by DRLs. Above this fascia, there will be a slim trapezoidal grille and modern headlights. The major highlight on the sides will be a steeply raked roofline, making the car a real coupe. The sides will also look good with 21-inch alloys wheels designed for on-road use. The rear end will get a new exhaust system and tight overhangs.
The interior of Range Rover Sport Coupe will be a luxurious one. Some high-quality materials and fine finishes will find their way in the cabin of the upcoming SUV. With a 2+2 seating arrangement, the car will accommodate a maximum of 5 passengers. There will also be a cargo space at the rear end of the cabin. The Land Rover SUV coupe is expected to share a lot of technological features with the normal Range Rover Sport. You can expect a revamped infotainment system with features such as a display screen, navigation unit, and a premium audio unit. We are also anticipating for an automatic climate control system and connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Smartphone integration and USB ports.
Range Rover Sport Coupe will also come with a good number of safety and security features. You should expect seatbelts, wade sensing, traffic sign recognition, reverse traffic detection, lane departure warning, airbags, parking assist, adaptive cruise control, and closing vehicle sensing.
Range Rover Sport Coupe – Main Power, Competition:
The Sport Coupe will borrow powertrains from the normal Range Rover Sport. You should, therefore, expect a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 with a capacity of 345 hp and 334 lb-ft. The other engine will be a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 rated at 542 hp and 462 lb-ft. In addition, the car might get a hybrid powertrain, according to some rumors.
The two engines will work with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The car will achieve the 0-60 mph acceleration in 6.9 seconds with the V6 engine and 5.0 seconds with the V8 engine. On the side of fuel economy and pollution, the SUV will record 17 mpg in city & 22 mpg on highway and 14 mpg in city & 19 mph on the highway with the 3.0-liter and 5.0-liter engine respectively. The car will also offer reduced emission rates.
Range Rover Sport Coupe – Launch Date and Price:
We expect the starting price of the Range Rover Sport Coupe to be around $80,000. If there will be premium models, you can expect to dig deeper into your pocket to purchase them. Some popular car magazines have reported prices of around $120,000 for the trim levels. As for the release date, the new Range Rover car will be available by the end of 2017.
